Cold War Movie Project - Due May 29, 2013
Select one or two films from the list of movies below and write a typed one page summary in which you:
- explain what aspect of the Cold War the film(s) covers *(look at the questions below)
- explain how the United States is represented in the film (Is America, a small part in the larger film or is the film entirely focused on American participation?)

Questions to think about while watching the movie:
a) What is the question being raised in the film?

What does it mean if Ms. Falkove "Prioritizes" an assignment?????

If Ms. Falkove mentions that an assignment has "priority" in class or on-line, she wants you to focus your efforts on making sure you complete this task before working on a secondary assignment. Although that "secondary" assignment might be checked, you will have at least one extra day to make this assignment up. It does not mean that you don't have to do the other assignment.

Letters of Recommendations and Rave Sheets

Ms. Falkove will post instructions, here, at the end of May for those Juniors looking for letters of recommendation. Do NOT approach her before then.

Common Problems with Newspaper Articles

Review the following questions and address the problems before resubmitting the article as part of the project:
  1. Does your Newspaper Article have a title? A byline?
  2. Did you give the newspaper the article was printed in an appropriate name? (New York Inquirer or Williamsburg Herald)
  3. Did you create an appropriate date?
  4. Did you write an article that included an overly biased opinion? A newspaper article may have some bias but should allow readers to come to their own conclusions.
  5. Did you write a journal entry, express your own personal opinion as a journalist on a subject, or use the first person pronoun (i.e We, Our, Us, I, etc.) a lot? If so, you did not write an appropriate piece. You have to present ideas in a way that seems to be  reporting the facts and not expressing your own opinion.
  6. Did you look at an actual Newspaper to get a better idea of formatting?
  7. Was the Article Typed? If not – you must type the article before resubmitting it as part of your project or for a higher grade
